Our History & Values
In 1976, a first generation family of skilled bakers from Sicily began operations at the very first Genova’s Restaurant in Hanover, PA. Genova's quickly grew to twelve shops in the Central Pennsylvania and Maryland areas, but over the years, it became clear that the shining star in the Genova’s crown was the Hampstead, MD location.
In 1992, Genova’s of Hampstead opened a small dining room that sat a mere fifty guests. Until then, Genova’s Restaurants were strictly carryout. As locals began to find out about the delicious Italian secret, it became evident that an expansion was necessary. In November of 1997, Genova’s began construction to increase the restaurant seating to two-hundred and fifty, adding a beautiful pub and a game room as well. After five months of construction, the “brand new” Genova’s opened its doors on April 17th, 1998.
To ensure that everyone has the chance to enjoy a taste of Genova’s appetizing menu, new carryout locations have opened in Manchester, MD (September 2003) and Westminster, MD (July 2006).
As Genova’s Restaurants continue to grow, our family is still involved in the creation of a special experience for our guests every single day. Our family can be found each day in the kitchens preparing freshly made breads, spending time with our guests, and ensuring each and every person who joins us for a meal is satisfied in every way.
